We cooperate with interior designers, architects, developers, resorts, restaurants, hotels, lighting designers and all types of cool folks who dig our stuff. Installing all around the world, bringing custom glass lighting ideas to life ...and we have a great time doing it!!

What we do

Blown Design focuses on just a handful of projects each year, big and small. We are dedicated to our clients and selective of our endeavors. We consider our biggest strength to be the collective relationships and teamwork we build with our partners. The architects, engineers, designers and end-clients we cooperate with are the key to our success.

Design

If you can dream it, we can help you build it! Tell us about your concepts, ideas and goals. We can assist you from the very first steps. Our Blown Team consists of architects, engineers, designers and glass craftsmen, with years of experience in the field of custom glass lighting design. We believe that good communication starts with listening well. Early stage sketches, 3D modeling, sampling and visuals are all part of our process to help illuminate your design narrative.

Production

We produce in Czech Republic using a variety of glass making techniques, notably hand-blown Bohemian glass. Blown glass, flat glass, technical glass, plexiglass, coatings, coloring, silvering, ceramics, metals, decorative plates …we have many tools at our disposal! We strive to find the best quality, most cost-effective solutions for your project. We produce detailed shop & fixing drawings, as well as real samples, prior to production to make sure we have things just right. Production typically takes between 8-14 weeks, however, more intricate designs and high-quantity orders (50-500 pcs) can take longer. That being said, I would wager that Blown Design has among the quickest, and most reliable, production times in the custom glass lighting industry in Europe!

Install

We install worldwide! Our Blown Team loves traveling around the world bringing Glass to Light. Throughout the project, we cooperate with your site representatives, engineers, electricians, etc. regarding the logistics and timing of the installation. We provide expertise on how to best prepare the ceiling or walls for proper fixing. Once all is produced, packed and ready to ship, we secure cost-effective transport and help navigate the export-import process on your behalf. Then our team packs up and flys out to your site. We can perform each step of the installation, working with your site reps, and are always ready to go the extra yard to make sure your design hangs just the way you imagined.

Sustainability

Blown Design implements a variety of sustainability, recycling, repurposing and energy saving efforts in our production. We believe that glass can be reused in many different ways and we can create beautiful works of art out of it.

*We regularly use recycled Culled Glass
*We repurpose our cut crystal prisms and beads. Taking them from old crystal chandeliers, clean them and reuse them is not an unusual approach for us.
*We use Natural Gas in our hotshops (rather than petrol, coal, wood - which are sometimes used)
*We repurpose old newspapers for our packing
*We use recycled wood for building our custom Shipping Crates

A little background on our Team...

About us: a unique custom glass lighting company. Our Art Director, Martin Lukacka is a former basebll player for the Slovakian national team and an Architect living in Prague. Our Head of Production, Andrej Gulyas, is the proud Dad of two boys and leads our Workshop in northern Czech. Curtis Neuschaefer, our Blown Director, is a Florida snowbird who spends half the year in Prague and winters by the beach. Brought together by Crystal Glass (and Zoom!), this fusion has been a team for 8+ years, perfecting bespoke lighting in Europe, USA & South America. Our greater production team of master craftsmen are spread out over the Crystal Valley in Czech, with partners in Slovakia, Poland & USA. We are unique brand of custom glass lighting company.
